I think I've succumbed to fabric alarmism

Yesterday I read Heather's post in which she mentioned that Laura Wisburn's Tufted Tweet line was on backorder in many stores. She listed a few stores where some was still available. I clicked over to check out the stock and found it had been cleared out. I quickly googled the line and found an etsy store (SewFreshFabrics) that had some and ordered up a bunch.

I focused on this colourway but not entirely.

Honestly, I read that post and imagined myself in two years, pining for a fabric that I could never have .... I pictured a Flea Market Fancy scenario where I would click wistfully on etsy listings like this or this and lament the fact that I just can't justify spending 45$ for a yard. So instead I horde my little scraps and use them in every project I can....

Do you stockpile fabric like I do? Am I being smart or silly...it's just fabric after all!

I almost did the same thing. And then I stopped myself because while I think this line of fabric has amazing color, I'm not sure what I'd _do_ with it except look at it and smile.

I checked those Etsy FMF listings and they were $45/fat quarter! That's $180/yard!

I did the same thing with Tufted Tweets! I was going to order some the other day on Hawthorne Threads. Did have time to do it, when back a few hours later, and it was gone! Next day bought some at Fabric Worm because I got freaked out that I would miss the boat. Glad I'm not the only nut out there in a fabric frenzy.!

*Sigh* I don't the like the fabric frenzy at all! I do get caught up in it from time to time but you are right, it really is just fabric...

Jennifer :)

PS: I ordered 4 fat qtrs of Tufted Tweets and I got it yesterday. Very cute!

I almost did the same thing! I was on vacation and missed the whole first week+ of the release. A bit of frantic clicking and then I stopped before I ordered because I was mad! Seriously, with the hype, they should not be on a several month back order one week into it. Kaufman doesn't need to go all Sony on us. As cute as it is, I'm not too happy about how long and strong they have been with FQ giveaways and type through all the blogs without the stock to support it.

Supply and demand baby! LOVE that fabric. Can I please come and visit it at our house??

I am supposed to be on a fabric buying hiatus (unless I have a specific project in mind, y'know).

Am I guilty of panick buying fabric that might sell out??? Ummm...YEAH! I also have a tendency to hoard fabric that I know cannot be replaced, rather than actually using it in a project. Crazy? Mais oui...but I know that we are not alone!

I TOTALLY understand!!!
However, my husband does not--but that's another story :)
Once that fabric is gone--it's
G O N E!!

and who wants to live a life of regret??

I used to be so bad, but I've backed right off. I think partially because they've been re-releasing some of the well loved fabrics and partly because I just don't have any space to store more!!
Having said that, I would love to get my hands on some of this line, though!

I do look get frenzied, but, I never seem to get there soon enough to get even the last bits.

I am curretnly waiting for Early Bird to re-appear at Hawthorn, but I have no idea what I will do with it... I have the complete set of Early Bird scrap book paper and embelies that I am afaid to use because then they will be gone.
